About the Event

Did you know The Lincoln Theatre originally opened as a movie palace in 1929? Hundreds of films, obscure, classic, and in between, have graced our screen before a harrowing "Dark Era" marked by the abandonment of the building in 1977.
As an homage to this spectacular time period where the theatre thrived as "Southwest Virginia's Finest Showplace," our film curator, Katelin Aanerud, has hand-picked some of the most bone-chilling and instrumental films of the horror genre that could have been screened during our original run.
We dare you to come and experience a free scary movie from six different decades– all in the cozy atmosphere of our beautifully-restored theater... and in the company of a friendly lingering spirit or two...
No ticket or reservation is needed for this event! Feel free to enter and exit the festival as you please!
