In August, Animal Crackers (1930) returns to the big screen. Animal Crackers was the second of two Broadway shows that starred the Marx Brothers and was done at the Paramount Astoria Studios. In the story, well-known explorer and hunter Captain Spaulding (Groucho Marx) has just returned from Africa, and is being welcomed home with a lavish party at the estate of influential society matron Mrs. Rittenhouse (Margaret Dumont) when a valuable painting goes missing.
Check out the fascinating history behind the Marx Brothers, comedy, and censorship in film!
